Chinese Language Division has Chinese Language Program and Chinese Teacher Training Program.
Chinese Language Program is offered to the non-Chinese-speaking people above 18 years old. The program is season program, which is 3 months per season, with 3 hours per day, from Monday to Friday. The courses are offered from very beginner’s level to advanced one, which are arranged according to students’ language ability. And there are only 5 to 8 students in one class. Now, they also offer Short-Term Summer courses for beginners to strengthen their oral language skills and reading and writing skills.
Aside from language trainings courses, they also offer cultural activities each season, including the field trips every spring and fall. The activities aim to expose students to Chinese cultures and to brush up students’ Chinese language skills at the same time.
The Chinese Teacher Training Program aims for Taiwanese citizens with bachelor degree (or above). There are 3 terms per year, with 35~40 students per term. This program focuses both on Chinese language pedagogy and practical courses (also the simulated teaching). The teachers are the profssors from the Department of Chinese Literature, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures in the National Taiwan University, as well as those from the Department of Chinese as a Second Language and Department of English in the National Taiwan Normal University. The practical courses are given by the CLD Chinese Language Program teachers.
The Foreign Language Division (FLD) offers the following classes:
EEEP is open to adults who hold a high school degree or above. There are five eight-week terms per year. At present EEEP classes include Listening and Conversation, Integrated English, Reading and Writing, Advanced Conversation, and English Grammar.
ESPP offers specialized courses to professions and graduate students who have specific needs for certain English skills. There are three ten-week terms per year. ESPP courses currently include International Negotiation, Global Forum, Academic Writing, and Speech and Presentation.
WELP offers English courses to students who want to improve their English skills on the weekend. There are four to five eight-week terms per year. At present WELP courses include TOEIC Preparation Course, Learning English through Films, and Advanced Writing.
FLP offers non-English language courses. To date, it includes Korean, French, Spanish and German courses for beginners to advanced learners. We plan to extend this program to include more languages in the future.
EEJP offers courses that help students learn and master Japanese. There are four to five eight-week terms per year. EEJP courses are divided into levels depending on students’ levels of Japanese language proficiency.
JLPT is special program for students who wish to attend the Japanese Proficiency Test. It is offered twice a year. Each term is eleven weeks long, with a total of 99 hours of class time.
